Sony Confirms 20+ Major First and Third Party Games for PSVR 2 at Launch

At Sony’s recent investors briefing, CEO Jim Ryan unveiled plans for expanding the PlayStation brand by bringing 20+ Major First and Third Party games for PSVR 2 at Launch. The new headset will feature games created by first-party developers, including Firesprite and Guerrilla Games. Sony is looking to expand the PlayStation brand as well as reinforce its console VR offering with the next big headset.

In addition to support 4K resolution, the new PSVR 2 headset will also support HDR output, which will be available for the first time in a consumer VR headset. Additionally, Sony has confirmed that the new VR headset will feature foveated rendering, which tracks the user’s vision and dynamically adjusts which in-game elements are rendered at the highest quality.

This will increase overall performance. Sony has yet to announce a release date for the headset, but more presentations are likely later this year.

Although Sony has not given any hints about its upcoming PSVR 2 system, industry insiders say the release date could be around 2022. The PSVR is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2023, but the exact date is unknown.

The new VR headset and controllers are expected to debut around the holiday season of 2022. As of now, Sony has not announced the exact date for the PSVR 2 launch, but it has a very optimistic outlook of its next console.
