How to Manage Your Internet Security on your iPhone, iPad or iPod.

Internet security is just as important on your gadgets as with your normal computer. The default installed Web browser on the iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad is a mobile version of Apple’s Safari. It is designed to take full advantage of the touch screen capabilities and smaller screen sizes of each device. Mobile security makes sure that your browsing experience is as secure and private as possible.

Just as you can manage your mobile security settings on your PC or Mac, you can do so on your Apple devices as well. You just need to know where to look and what options you should be enabling for the best results.

Step 1
Open your device’s “Settings” app. Scroll through the descending list of installed programs on the left section of screen until you see the entry for “Safari.” Tap “Safari” one time to view a list of settings related to the built-in Web browser that can be adjusted.

Step 2
Enable “Private Browsing” if you want to make sure that nobody who uses your device after you can see your Safari history. With “Private Browsing” enabled, Safari will stop recording Web pages you visit and information that you enter into “Search” forms. To enable “Private Browsing,” tap the button to the right of its entry.

Step 3
Turn off your iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad’s ability to save cookies for increased protection. To do this, tap the button labeled “Accept Cookies” and select the “Never” option. This will stop your device from accepting the types of cookies that certain Web sites try to download automatically.

Step 4
Make sure the “Fraud Warning” setting is set to “On.” Certain Web sites will attempt to make contact with your iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad by way of fraudulent credentials. Though these sites are not always malicious in nature, they are a good portion of the time. Turning on the “Fraud Warning” option will give you a warning by way of a pop-up alert anytime you try to connect to one of these sites.

Step 5
Enable the “Block Pop-ups” option. Certain sites may try to load pop-ups automatically. These pop-ups can be annoying advertisements containing information you didn’t request. They could also contain malware or other types of software designed to compromise your device. Making sure that Safari’s built-in pop-up blocker is enabled will give your iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad additional security so you can rest safe while browsing.
