Forza Horizon 5 Will Require a Microsoft Account to Play on PS5

As expected, Forza Horizon 5 will require players to link a Microsoft account with their PSN account to play on PS5, following the pattern of other Xbox-published titles on PlayStation.

As per an official FAQ, the process starts the moment the game is released on Sony’s console, with players needing to log in to a Microsoft account prior to gameplay starting.

A PSN account and linking to a Microsoft account are in addition to the requirements needed to play Forza Horizon 5 on PS5,” it explains. “This is done the first time that you boot up the game on your console.

”Yes, in addition to a PSN account you’ll need to link to a Microsoft account in order to play Forza Horizon 5 on PS5. This process begins the first time you start up the game on your console.”

”On launch of the game, you will be asked to sign-in with your Microsoft account –sometimes referred to as the Xbox Live services that are a part of your Microsoft account – and link it to the PlayStation Network account you are currently logged into the PS5 console.”

Microsoft also makes it clear that account linking is performed on a “title-by-title” basis, and therefore, players who have already previously linked their accounts for other Xbox Live-supported games, including Sea of Thieves, will be required to go through the process again for Forza Horizon 5.

After the linking is established, it is not possible to alter it or transfer it to a different Microsoft account. However, players are able to unlink their PSN account from their Microsoft account for Forza Horizon 5, but should they want to re-link, they can only do so with the initially linked Microsoft account.
