Windows 11 New Update Brings AI-Powered Features to Every PC

Microsoft has rolled out a major update for Windows 11 that makes artificial intelligence (AI) a core part of using your computer. This new version, called 25H2, turns every Windows 11 PC into what the company calls an “AI PC,” with its helpful assistant Copilot now easier to use for everyday tasks. The update started arriving on October 16 and aims to make your computer smarter and more responsive without needing special hardware.

The biggest change is how Copilot works. Before, you had to click or type to start it, but now you can simply say “Hey Copilot” to wake it up with your voice.

This lets you ask questions or give commands hands-free, like switching apps or finding files. Copilot can now connect to other services too, helping with real-life jobs such as booking a dinner table or ordering food right from your desktop.

Another new tool is Copilot Vision, which looks at what’s on your screen – like a document, a video, or even a game – and gives smart suggestions. For example, it could explain a tricky part of a webpage or suggest tips while you’re playing.

Microsoft is also testing Copilot Actions, an early feature that lets the AI handle simple chores on your local files, such as resizing photos or building a basic website from your notes.

Gamers get a treat with Gaming Copilot in beta, an AI helper that works with new handheld devices like the Asus ROG Xbox Ally. It can tweak settings for better play or suggest strategies during matches. Plus, Copilot now sits right on your taskbar, replacing the old search button, so it’s always ready to help – though you can choose to keep the classic search if you prefer.

The update also brings other handy fixes, like better battery life on laptops, stronger protection against online scams, and smoother ways to switch between apps using voice commands. These changes roll out gradually through Windows Update, so check for them in your settings soon. No restart is needed for most parts, and it’s free for all Windows 11 users.

Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s top marketing leader for consumer products, said: “These updates make talking to your PC as easy and powerful as using a mouse or keyboard. Copilot is now at the heart of Windows, helping you create, play, and get things done faster.”

This launch comes as Microsoft stops support for the older Windows 10 on the same day, pushing users to upgrade for these fresh AI perks. With rivals like Google and Apple adding their own smart helpers, Microsoft hopes Copilot will keep Windows ahead in making computers feel more like helpful partners.
