Essential Phone Gets Latest Android 9 Pie (Build PQ1A) Update with March Security Patch

The first 2019’s update for the Essential Phone was released earlier in January. Later Essential releases the second software update bringing the February security patch on its Essential Phone. Now, the Essential Phone is receiving the latest software build update based Android 9 Pie. The latest Android 9 Pie update for the Essential Phone includes build number PQ1A.190105.024 and is rolling out via OTA.

Other than the March security patches, the latest Essential Phone update also brings Google’s Digital Wellbeing app Support to the phone. The Digital Wellbeing app lets you keep track of everything including your habits on how you spent time on your device. Have a look on below features.

It provides a daily view of your digital habits including:
• How frequently you use different apps
• How many notifications you receive
• How often you check your phone

Disconnect when you want to:
• Daily app timers let you set limits for how much you use apps.
• Wind Down reminds you to switch off at night, setting a schedule to fade your screen to Grayscale while Do Not Disturb silences notifications for a good night’s sleep.

To recall, Essential Phone was one of the very first devices which got the latest Android 9 Pie update from day one after it got released.

The latest update is currently rolling out via OTA. To check for the update manually, head to your Essential Phone’s Settings > System > Advanced > System Update.
