The Government of India’s Ministry of Information Technology on Monday via an official press note announced that it has banned a total of 59 Chinese apps that are “prejudicial to [the] sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, the security of the state and public order.” The banned list of Chinese apps includes popular Chinese apps such as TikTok, Shareit, UC Mobile Browser, WeChat, and other popular Chinese apps.
According to the press note, the Government has banned the following Chinese apps under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act.
