Originally, the action title Marvel’s Avengers should be given an extensive next-gen upgrade this year. As the developers of Crystal Dynamics admitted, nothing will come of this project. Instead, PS5 and Xbox Series X players will have to wait until 2021.

As part of a detailed blog entry, the developers of Crystal Dynamics went into the future of the in-house action title Marvel’s Avengers.

Among other things, the studio talked about the extensive technology upgrade for the two next-generation consoles of Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, which was originally supposed to be launched in the weeks after the launch of the two systems. As those responsible at Crystal Dynamics admitted, Marvel’s Avengers will, unfortunately, be delayed to 2021 for the new consoles.

According to the developers, further details on the next-gen upgrade of Marvel’s Avengers will follow in due course. Crystal Dynamics has stated the following on its official post: “Until then, however, you’ll be able to continue playing the current-gen (PS4/Xbox One) Marvel’s Avengers game on next-gen platforms to take advantage of their powerful hardware, be it via inserting a physical disk or redownloading the game.”

“Two of the most obvious benefits of this are improved frame rates and faster loading times. In addition, players who make the jump to the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S will still be able to play co-op with their friends on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One respectively as well as carry their existing save-game forward to the next-generation of consoles!” they further commented.
