Ola Electric is all set to launch its Gen-3 range of electric scooters tomorrow at 10:30 AM Fri 31st Jan, 2025, bringing significant improvements in efficiency, design, and technology. The company first teased this new platform last year, and now, more details have started to emerge.

Ola Gen-3 Electric Scooters Key Highlights

  • Refined battery structure integrating motor, battery, and electronics into one unit
  • Teased aluminium frame (may feature in the final model)
  • Gen-3 battery could act as a stressed member for enhanced durability
  • Reduced processors: From 10 (Gen-1) & 4 (Gen-2) to just 1 (Gen-3)
  • Minimized wiring complexity with revised architecture
  • New & improved TFT display with major software updates
  • ADAS features teased, but not launching immediately

The Gen-3 scooters are expected to feature a refined battery structure that integrates the motor, battery, and electronics into a single unit.

A teaser image hinted at an aluminium frame, though it remains to be seen whether it will make it to the production model. If implemented, the Gen-3 battery could serve as a stressed member, enhancing durability and performance.

Ola has also made major advancements in the scooter’s electronic architecture. The number of processors has been reduced from 10 in the first generation and four in the second generation to just one in the Gen-3 models. This change is expected to simplify the wiring setup and overall system complexity.

In terms of features, the upcoming models will carry over some elements from the current range but will introduce a new and improved TFT display. The software powering this system is expected to receive a significant update.

Although the company previously teased Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), these features will not be implemented immediately.

Pricing details have also surfaced ahead of the official launch. The most affordable model, the S1 X 2kWh, will be priced at ₹79,999, while the top-end S1 Pro will cost ₹1.59 lakh (ex-showroom). Other variants include the S1 3kWh at ₹1.29 lakh and S1 4kWh at ₹1.50 lakh.

With its focus on efficiency, technology, and improved design, the Ola Gen-3 range promises to be a game-changer in the electric scooter market. Stay tuned for the official unveiling tomorrow!
