According to insider Dusk Golem, Resident Evil 9 is on track for a 2025 reveal and a 2026 release. The game is expected to be unveiled this year, possibly in summer or at The Game Awards, with a launch by March 2026 or later that year.
Set on a Singapore-inspired island in a rural town, the game will offer a fresh Southeast Asian vibe, unlike the Spanish and Romanian settings of Resident Evil 4 and Village.
Dusk Golem, who correctly predicted Monster Hunter Wilds as an open-world game, says Resident Evil 9 might also be open-world.
CAPCOM is reportedly reinventing the series with new gameplay, distinct from Resident Evil Village, though it’s unclear if it will return to third-person view.
