IO Interactive has revealed the cinematic trailer for 007 First Light, a new James Bond game, during Sony’s State of Play. The game is set to launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. This action-adventure title explores a young Bond’s origin story.
What’s in the Trailer?
The trailer introduces a 26-year-old James Bond, a bold Royal Navy air crewman joining MI6’s elite Double 0 program. It highlights his tough childhood, orphaned at 11, and his early spy training.
Packed with classic Bond elements—gadgets, car chases, and charm—the trailer uses IO’s Glacier Engine for a cinematic feel.
Familiar characters like M, Q, and Moneypenny appear, alongside Bond’s mentor, John Greenway, played by Lennie James from The Walking Dead. The story follows Bond hunting a rogue agent, 009, to stop a conspiracy.
007 First Light is a third-person action-adventure game mixing stealth and combat, similar to Hitman. You’ll play as a young Bond earning his 00 status, using disguises, Q’s gadgets, and fighting skills in exotic locations.
Driving sequences, possibly with a 1985 Aston Martin V8 Vantage, add excitement. It’s a standalone tale, not tied to Bond films, with potential for a trilogy.
