DJI, known for its drones and cameras has launched its first 360-degree action camera, the Osmo 360. This camera is designed to capture high-quality video and photos from every angle, making it a strong competitor to cameras like the Insta360 X5 and GoPro Max. Here’s its features, price, and what makes it special.

Key Features

  • High-Quality Video: The Osmo 360 records 8K video at up to 50 frames per second for smooth, sharp 360-degree footage. It can also shoot 4K video at 120 frames per second in single-lens mode for ultra-wide 170-degree shots, great for action scenes.
  • Powerful Sensors: It uses two 1-inch square sensors, which capture more light for better quality in low-light settings, like city nights or sunsets. These sensors support 120-megapixel 360-degree photos or 30-megapixel photos with less noise in dim conditions.
  • Long Battery Life: The camera can record 8K video for up to 100 minutes without overheating. An optional Battery Extension Rod extends this to 180 minutes. It charges to 50% in just 12 minutes.
  • Storage: It comes with 105GB of built-in storage and a microSD slot for up to 1TB more, so you can record hours of video without worrying about space.
  • Audio: The camera has four built-in microphones for clear sound and can connect directly to two DJI wireless microphones for high-quality audio from two people, without needing a receiver.
  • Sturdy Design: Weighing only 183 grams, it’s lightweight and compact. It’s waterproof, works in cold temperatures down to -20°C, and uses a magnetic quick-release system for easy mounting on helmets, handlebars, or selfie sticks.
  • Smart Controls: You can use voice commands, gestures, or the DJI Mimo app to control the camera hands-free. It also has HorizonSteady stabilization to keep footage smooth, even during shaky action.
  • Editing Support: The camera supports 10-bit color and D-Log M mode for better color editing. However, some users note that DJI’s editing app needs improvement compared to Insta360’s.

Price

The Osmo 360 is available now in several regions, including Amazon US, with the following prices:

  • Standard Combo: Includes the camera, battery, protective pouch, lens protector, and USB-C cable.
    • China: 2,999 yuan (~$420)
    • Europe: €479.99 (~$520)
    • Canada: $430 USD
  • Adventure Combo: Adds a selfie stick, battery case, and quick-release mount.
    • China: 3,799 yuan (~$530)
    • Europe: €629.99 (~$680)
    • Canada: $580 USD
  • US Pricing: Expected at $549.99 for the Standard Combo and $699.99 for the Adventure Combo, but availability in the US is not yet confirmed.

Why It’s a Top Choice

The DJI Osmo 360 stands out for its sharp 8K video, excellent low-light performance, and long battery life, making it ideal for adventurers, vloggers, and filmmakers. Its square sensors use more of the imaging area than competitors, improving picture quality.

The camera’s compact size, sturdy build, and easy-to-use features like voice control and magnetic mounts make it perfect for capturing everything from sports to travel. However, its editing app may not be as polished as Insta360’s, and it doesn’t have swappable lenses like some rivals.

Availability

The Osmo 360 is available now on DJI’s website and Amazon US store, with shipping starting in China, Europe, and Canada. US availability is expected later, but no official date has been announced.
