Apple is getting ready to launch the iPhone 17 series next month, and it’s shaping up to be one of their biggest releases yet. While Apple hasn’t confirmed the date, sources like Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman hint at a reveal on September 9 or 10, 2025, sticking to Apple’s tradition of early September events after Labour Day in the US.

The lineup will likely include four models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Plus, expect new gadgets like the Apple Watch Series 11, Watch SE 3, and Watch Ultra 3. Here’s everything we know about the iPhone 17’s design, display, battery, price and more.

Design

Apple is shaking things up with the iPhone 17’s look. Leaks suggest the iPhone 17 Air and Pro models might sport a horizontal camera setup on the back, moving away from the vertical design we’ve seen lately. The Air model is expected to be super slim, about 2mm thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro, making it lighter and easier to hold while still packing a punch in performance.

Display

The screens are getting a boost too. The standard iPhone 17 could grow from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, giving you more room for videos and apps. Regular models might also get a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling, a feature once exclusive to Pro models.

However, Apple’s ProMotion tech, which smartly adjusts the refresh rate to save battery, will likely stay Pro-only.

The Pro and Pro Max models might come with a new anti-glare, scratch-resistant display coating, perfect for using your phone in bright sunlight. Apple planned this feature earlier but faced production hiccups, now reportedly sorted.

Chipset

All iPhone 17 models will likely run on the new A19 processor, promising faster performance and better battery life. The Air and Pro models might also get a vapour chamber cooling system to keep things cool during heavy tasks like gaming or 4K video editing.

Wi-Fi 7 support is expected across all models for faster internet. RAM could vary, with 12GB for the Air and Pro models, while the base iPhone 17 might stick with 8GB.

Camera

Get ready for sharper photos! The front camera could jump from 12MP to 24MP, making selfies and video calls clearer, especially in low light.

The standard iPhone 17 will likely keep its 48MP main rear camera, but Pro models might get exclusive telephoto zoom features. The iPhone 17 Pro Max could also introduce a mechanical aperture system, letting it adjust to different lighting for better shots.

Battery

Battery details are still secret, but with bigger screens, Apple is expected to pack in larger batteries to keep up with or improve usage time. Charging speeds might bump up to 35W across all models, a small step up but still behind Android phones with 100W charging.

iPhone 17 Launch: Pre-Order and Prices

If Apple sticks to its usual schedule, expect media invites in early September. Pre-orders should start a few days after the announcement, with phones hitting stores on September 12 or 19, 2025. Prices might see a hike, with analyst Edison Lee from Jefferies suggesting a $50 increase due to tariffs and component costs.

In the US, prices could start at $829 (around Rs 72,600) for the iPhone 17, $979 (about Rs 85,700) for the iPhone 17 Air, $1,049 (roughly Rs 91,900) for the iPhone 17 Pro, and $1,249 (approx Rs 1,09,400) for the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

In India, prices are typically higher due to taxes and duties. For comparison, the iPhone 16 started at Rs 79,900, iPhone 16 Plus at Rs 89,900, iPhone 16 Pro at Rs 1,19,900, and iPhone 16 Pro Max at Rs 1,44,900. If the price hike happens, Indian buyers could face even steeper costs.

Interestingly, Apple lowered prices for the iPhone 16 Pro models in India last year compared to the iPhone 15 Pro. With India being a key market, it’ll be exciting to see how Apple prices the iPhone 17 series this time.
