After months of rumors and leaks, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 has finally appeared on Geekbench, giving us a sneak peek at its power. Qualcomm is set to officially reveal it in late September 2025, but we’re already seeing it in action on Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 Edge, codenamed SM-S947U.
In Geekbench 6.4 tests, it scored 3,393 points in single-core tasks and 11,515 points in multi-core tasks. That’s about 10% faster than the Snapdragon 8 Elite in the Galaxy S25, which scored 3,087 and 8,571.
Not as mind-blowing as some leaks suggested, but there’s a catch: the chip was running at 4.0GHz, not its full speed of 4.74GHz. Since this is a pre-production model, there’s more power waiting to be unleashed.
Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 Specifications
The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 sticks with a 6+2 core setup, like its predecessor, with six cores at 3.63GHz for regular tasks and two for heavy work. It supports a special feature called Scalable Matrix Extension for handling complex tasks. The Galaxy S26 Edge tested had 12GB of RAM and was running Android 16, likely with an early version of Samsung’s One UI 8.0.
This performance spells trouble for Samsung’s Exynos 2600 chip, which showed up on Geekbench earlier but didn’t impress. If the Galaxy S26 Edge uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, the rest of the S26 lineup might follow, which is great for users wanting speed but not so great for Samsung’s chip-making division.
