TCL has introduced the Nxtpaper 11 Gen 2 tablet, which features a screen that resembles paper in look and touch, as the company explains. Combined with various eye-protection features, this device could help cut down on headaches and eye tiredness for users sensitive to bright lights or screen flickers.
Digital Screen Fatigue and Nxtpaper 4.0 Features
Devices such as tablets and laptops commonly use smooth, shiny screens to make pictures sharper and more vivid. These screens frequently adjust their light levels using quick on-off pulses, known as pulse width modulation or PWM.
The shiny surfaces create strong reflections, and the pulsing lights can trigger issues like eye discomfort, head pain, and even sickness in people who notice them easily.
The Nxtpaper 11 Gen 2 uses Nxtpaper 4.0 technology, which applies a special nano-matrix pattern on the screen’s top layer to produce a surface similar to paper with reduced reflections, according to TCL.
A special polarizer changes how light comes out to possibly ease dry eyes and overall tiredness.
Additionally, a light-altering filter lowers the amount of blue light that could be harmful. A direct current backlight system removes the pulsing effect to potentially lessen head pain, dizziness, sickness, and other reactions.
Nxtpaper 11 Gen 2 with Pen Stylus and Case
The Nxtpaper 11 Gen 2 is driven by an 8-core MediaTek Helio G80 CPU, offering 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of storage on Android 15. The RAM can be effectively doubled with virtual extensions, and you can add more space using a microSD card. It includes Bluetooth 5.3 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi for reliable wireless links.
The 1,920 x 1,200 LCD screen can be adjusted anytime between standard color view, softer color paper view, and black-and-white paper view. The bundled T-pen stylus recognizes 4,096 levels of pressure for jotting down class notes or sketching charts, and it attaches magnetically to the provided flip-open stand case.
For video chats, it has a 5 MP front camera and an 8 MP back camera, along with two microphones and two speakers. Built-in smart tools handle translations, captions, short text overviews, and speech-to-text functions.
The 8,000 mAh battery inside can even power up other gadgets like a phone. The tablet is 17.64 oz. (500g) and sized at 9.98 x 6.51 x 0.29 in. (25.3 x 16.5 x 0.4 cm).
