Xiaomi has opened its beta testing program for HyperOS 3, a major software update built on Android 16, to users around the world. The first test versions will start arriving on September 24 for more than 15 eligible phones and tablets, giving early users a chance to try new features like smoother animations and better battery management before the full release in late 2025.
HyperOS 3 brings a refreshed look to Xiaomi devices, with cleaner icons, a redesigned battery indicator, and faster responses that can make apps open up to 30% quicker. It also improves connections with Apple products, such as easier file sharing between Xiaomi phones and iPhones or iPads.
Privacy tools get a boost too, letting users better control what apps can access. These changes aim to make daily use feel more seamless and efficient across Xiaomi’s lineup of phones, tablets, and even some smart TVs.
To join the beta, users of supported devices can download the Xiaomi Community app, head to the “Me” section, and select “Beta Testing” to sign up. Spots fill up quickly, and Xiaomi will roll it out in waves to manage feedback.
While the company hasn’t released the full list yet, reports point to flagships like the Xiaomi 15, 15 Pro, and 15 Ultra; mid-range options such as the Poco F7 and Redmi Note 14 series; and a few older models including the Xiaomi 14T Pro and Mix Flip. Tablets like the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro are also expected to join early.
The beta program kicked off in China last month on devices like the Xiaomi 15 series and Redmi K70 Ultra, where testers have noted snappier performance and a handy “Super Island” shortcut for quick app access.
Global users can now install the beta version, but Xiaomi reminds everyone that test software might have glitches, so back up your data and use it on a secondary device if possible.
This worldwide beta shows Xiaomi speeding up updates for international markets, keeping pace with rivals like Samsung and Google as they prepare their own Android 16 features.
The stable HyperOS 3 should hit devices in the fourth quarter of 2025, starting with newer models. If your device is on the rumored list, grab the app and sign up soon. Xiaomi plans to add more models in the weeks ahead, so even if you’re not in the first wave, help could be coming next.
