Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has officially launched the 15C 5G in India today, bringing a budget-friendly 5G smartphone. Starting at Rs.12,499, it is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, a big 6,000mAh battery, and a 120Hz display, which is quite a combination for the users who are looking for long power supply with low expenditure.
Redmi 15C 5G is basically a battery-life focused and performance-basics device that features in the segment under 15,000 Rs. Its 6,000mAh battery is among the largest in this price bracket, thus the manufacturer promises up to two days of mixed use activities such as calling, browsing, and video watching.
The phone also supports 33W fast charging to give you the full charge quickly and it also has 10W reverse charging available to charge other devices like earbuds. After 1,000 charge cycles, Xiaomi says the battery still has 80% of its capacity, thus it is quite durable.
Under the hood, the phone has MediaTek Dimensity 6300, a 6nm chip with octa-core (2x Cortex-A78 @2.4GHz + 6x Cortex-A55 @2.0GHz) CPU and Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. It works smoothly with everyday tasks and can take on some light gaming without much trouble, although for heavy game titles you might need to tweak settings.
4GB, 6GB, or 8GB RAM (with up to 8GB virtual extension) and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage with the option to expand microSD card up to 1TB are your hardware configurations. The phone is equipped with Android 15 and Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2 skin on top, and the company has committed this flagship to two OS updates and four years of security patches.
Redmi 15C 5G has a big 6.9 inches HD+ (720 x 1,600 pixels) IPS LCD display with an aspect ratio of 20:9 and a refresh rate of 120Hz to make scrolling smooth. The brightness level is 660 nits under typical conditions, and it will go up to 810 nits in bright outdoor mode, so the screen is still visible under direct sunlight.
Three certifications from TÜV Rheinland work together to protect your eyes from blue light and flicker in long sessions. Moreover, the phone is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and the IP64 standard certified dust/water resistance is there to give it some extra strength.
On the backside, 50MP primary sensor (f/1.8 aperture) is coupled with AI features like night mode, portraits, and time-lapse, along with a secondary depth sensor. Upfront, an 8MP selfie camera is fitted in the notch for super-clear video calling.
Both phones have 1080p video recording capability at 30fps. Other features include 5G (bands n1/n3/n5/n8/n28/n40/n78), dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi ac (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, and a USB-C port. It weighs 211 grams and measures 171.9 x 77.8 x 8.2mm.
Redmi 15C 5G is available in three different colors: Moonlight Blue, Dusk Purple, and Midnight Black. The price of the different variants starts at Rs 12,499 for 4GB+128GB; Rs 13,999 for 6GB+128GB; and Rs 15,499 for 8GB+128GB.
The phone will be available on December 10 through Mi.com, Flipkart, Amazon India, and Xiaomi retail stores. The early buyers can avail bank discount up to Rs 1,000 and no-cost EMI options.
This gadget is the one going to be under the Redmi Note 14 series, thus the major competitors are the Moto G85 as well as the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G. If you are after a non-frills 5G device that will last you for a long time, then go and see it on Flipkart shortly.
