As per a report by Insider Gaming, British studio Ballistic Moon, the maker of the Until Dawn Remake, has apparently closed down after a string of layoffs. Unidentified sources close to the matter assert the studio is now “essentially closed”, with just a few employees—potentially only the founders—left.

Trouble first began to surface in September 2024, when approximately 40 staff members were dismissed. A small team was kept at the time to handle post-launch support for the Until Dawn Remake, which was released in October 2024.

Yet, after the game’s release, further layoffs were said to have occurred in December, continuing to deplete the studio’s staff. By then, about 20 more developers had lost their positions, leaving the company in limbo.

Sources assert that Ballistic Moon does not have any development, marketing, or PR staff currently, leaving its future very much in doubt. Although the studio hasn’t officially shut down, reports assert that its management has been trying to raise money and pitch new projects—so far, with no success.

Lacking any word from Ballistic Moon or its other members, the fate of the studio is unknown. If it will officially shut down or try to revive itself through new investors remains to be seen.
