FOOD CONNOISSEUR

The Food Connoisseur Update in Roblox Grow a Garden is an exciting expansion update which is a part of the Cooking Event and adds new ways to cook, fun rewards, and a cool new character called the Rat Connoisseur. The Food Connoisseur Update was released on August 9, 2025, and will run until August 16, 2025. In this guide, I will explain everything you need to know about the update, including how to cook special foods, get new pets and seeds, and make the most of the Kitchen Storm event. Let’s dive in!

What Is the Food Connoisseur Update?

The Food Connoisseur Update is the second part of the Cooking Event in Grow a Garden. It builds on the cooking system introduced on August 2, 2025, where you mix crops to make dishes and feed them to a pig NPC named Chris P. for rewards. This update adds:

  • Rat Connoisseur: A new NPC who loves special “mutated” foods and gives unique rewards.
  • Kitchen Storm Event: A server-wide event that speeds up cooking and boosts chances for special crops.
  • New Recipes: Five new dishes to cook, like Spaghetti and Smoothies.
  • New Pets and Seeds: Cool pets like the Gorilla Chef and new crops like King Cabbage.
  • New Cosmetics: Fun garden decorations like a Cooking Cauldron and Smoothie Fountain.

This guide will walk you through each part of the update and share tips to get the best rewards.

Meet the Rat Connoisseur

The Rat Connoisseur is a new NPC who looks like a fancy rat chef (think Remy from Ratatouille). He’s near Chris P.’s Kitchen in the game’s lobby. Unlike Chris P., who takes any food, the Rat Connoisseur only wants mutated foods—dishes made with special crops that have cool effects like sparkles or glows. When you give him a mutated food, he lets you pick one of three random rewards.

How to Feed the Rat Connoisseur

  1. Make a Mutated Food: Cook a dish using crops with mutations (more on this below).
  2. Find the Rat: He’s next to the cooking pot in the lobby.
  3. Give the Food: Hold the mutated dish, press “E” near the Rat, and select “Try this food I cooked up!”
  4. Choose a Reward: Pick one of three rewards he offers, like a Culinarian Chest or a new pet.

Tip: Mutated foods have sparkly effects in your inventory, like glowing or changing colors, so they’re easy to spot.

How to Make Mutated Foods

Mutated foods are dishes made with crops that have special mutations, like Gold, Rainbow, or Aromatic. These crops have cool effects, like sparkles or glows, and make your dishes more valuable. Here’s how to make them:

  1. Get Mutated Crops:
    • Aromatic Mutation: Use a Pet Mutation Shard Aromatic on a pet, or grow crops during the Kitchen Storm event (explained below). Aromatic crops have a sweet smell and sparkly effects.
    • Other Mutations: Grow crops during special weather (like Rain for Wet mutation) or events (like Blood Moon for Bloodlit). You can also use pets like the Chicken Zombie for Zombified mutations.
    • Random Chance: Gold (20x value) and Rainbow (50x value) mutations can happen randomly while crops grow (1% and 0.1% chance).
  2. Cook with Mutated Crops:
    • Go to the cooking pot in the lobby.
    • Add mutated crops to a recipe (e.g., use an Aromatic Tomato instead of a regular Tomato for a Salad).
    • Check the mutation meter above the pot:
      • Green Bar: Your dish will be mutated (60%+ mutation chance).
      • Red Line: Your dish won’t be mutated.
    • Lucky Cook: There’s a small chance your dish becomes mutated automatically, even with normal crops.
    • Press “Cook” and wait for the timer (5-10 minutes, depending on the recipe).
  3. Tips for Mutated Foods:
    • Use more mutated crops in a recipe to increase the chance of a mutated dish.
    • Cook during the Kitchen Storm event to boost mutation chances.
    • Grow crops like Tomatoes or Corn, which are used in many recipes, to make mutated dishes easier.

Example: To make a mutated Pizza, use 1x Aromatic Violet Corn + 1x Aromatic Sugar Apple + 3x Bone Blossom for a Prismatic mutated Pizza.

What Is the Kitchen Storm Event?

The Kitchen Storm is a special server-wide event that makes cooking faster and increases your chance of getting Aromatic crops. It’s triggered by feeding Chris P. foods to fill the Kitchen Storm Bar above his head. Here’s how it works:

How to Start the Kitchen Storm

  1. Feed Chris P.: Give Chris P. any cooked dish (mutated or regular) by holding it, pressing “E,” and selecting “Try this food I cooked up!”
  2. Earn Points: Each dish gives points based on its rarity:
    • Common: 2 points
    • Uncommon: 3 points
    • Rare: 4 points
    • Legendary: 5 points
    • Mythical: 6 points
    • Divine: 7 points
    • Prismatic: 8 points
    • Transcendent: 9 points
  3. Fill the Bar: When the bar reaches 40 points, the Kitchen Storm starts. All players on the server help fill it, so work together!

Kitchen Storm Levels

  • Level 1 (40 points): Cooking speed is 1.5x faster, and Aromatic mutation chance increases.
  • Level 2 (80 points): Cooking speed is 2.5x faster, better Aromatic chance.
  • Level 3 (120 points): Cooking speed is 3x faster, even better Aromatic chance.
  • Level 4 (160 points): Cooking speed is 3.5x faster, best Aromatic chance.

Note: Higher levels make the event last longer, but it ends faster at Level 1. Keep feeding Chris P. to upgrade the kitchen and extend the event.

Benefits of Kitchen Storm

  • Faster Cooking: Dishes cook quicker, so you can make more food.
  • Aromatic Crops: During the event, most crops in your garden turn Aromatic, perfect for making mutated foods for the Rat Connoisseur.
  • More Rewards: Faster cooking means more dishes to trade for rewards.

Tip: Cook simple dishes like Soup (1x any crop, 5 minutes) to quickly add points to the Kitchen Storm Bar.
