The PlayStation 5 was released in Japan and North America yesterday, Thursday. Those responsible at Microsoft also congratulated on the successful launch of PS5 via Twitter.

This week, Microsoft on the one hand and Sony Interactive Entertainment on the other hand heralded the new generation of consoles. While the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S were released worldwide on November 10, 2020, the PlayStation 5 was released on Thursday, November 12, 2020 in Japan and North America.

Those responsible at Microsoft have now also spoken on Twitter and congratulated Sony Interactive Entertainment on the successful launch of the PS5, which of course presented the company with some challenges in times of the COVID-19 crisis.

Due to the corona pandemic, Sony Interactive Entertainment and the retail partners decided to forego traditional store sales when the PS5 was launched. Of course, this scenario did not change the demand. The available allotments online were always completely sold out within a very short time. Those who have not yet enjoyed their console will be offered another chance in the next few weeks.

As Sony Interactive Entertainment recently confirmed, considerable amounts of PlayStation 5 consoles are to be made available both before and after Christmas in order to offer as many customers as possible the opportunity to secure their copies.

In Europe and rest of the world, the PlayStation 5 will be available from November 19, 2020.
