Sony’s PlayStation Stars program will no longer award loyalty points for money spent on subscriptions, including PlayStation Plus and EA Play, as of March 1, 2025. This change refines points eligibility to only digital game and content purchases.

Additionally, new points will expire after one year, rather than the previous two-year limit. These updates are intended to adjust the rewards structure, focusing on individual purchases over subscription models.

Here is the snapshot of the email sent to PlayStation Stars users:

What has changed?

Effective October 24, 2024:

● New Points earned will expire at the end of the month plus 12 months from the date on which they appear in your PlayStation Stars account balance. Points earned prior to October 24, 2024 will continue to expire at the end of the month plus 24 months from the date on which they appear in your PlayStation Stars account balance.

Effective March 1, 2025:

● The definition of “Eligible Purchases” will be updated to exclude all subscription payments made on PlayStation Store (including any initial or renewal subscription payments for PlayStation Plus or any other subscription service), which means that Points will no longer be earned on subscription payments.
