Fans hoping to finally pre-order Grand Theft Auto VI today may need to lower their expectations.
Over the past few days, the GTA community has been closely watching May 18 after a leaked affiliate email connected to Best Buy suggested that GTA 6 pre-orders would officially begin today. The leak quickly fueled speculation that Rockstar Games could also release a new trailer or make a major announcement alongside the launch of pre-orders.
However, the new information now suggests that it may not happen.
According to GTA Forums user Graczdari_91, internal company emails reportedly indicate that Best Buy may have received incorrect information and that GTA 6 pre-orders are currently not expected to go live today.

The user reportedly noted that things “might change last minute,” but advised fans to keep expectations low for now.
Emails Were Privately Verified
The alleged internal emails were not posted publicly online. Instead, they were privately shared with Spider-Vice, one of the administrators of GTA Forums.
According to Spider-Vice, the emails appeared legitimate because the company email address matched the same address the forum member had previously used during registration. Spider-Vice also stated that the user had mentioned in earlier discussions that they were using their work email account on the forum.

While this does not officially confirm anything, it has added another layer of uncertainty to the ongoing pre-order rumors.
Mixed Signals Continue Around GTA 6 Pre-Orders
The confusion comes after several recent signs pointed toward pre-orders getting closer.
Earlier this month, a Best Buy affiliate email referenced May 18 as the start date for a physical GTA 6 pre-order campaign. Around the same time, fans also discovered backend listings for Grand Theft Auto VI inside Walmart’s database infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Italian retailer Showgame has already started accepting GTA 6 pre-orders for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S at €69.90.
Despite all these clues, Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive still haven’t made any official announcement regarding global pre-orders.
For now, fans are left waiting for confirmation directly from Rockstar instead of relying entirely on leaks, backend discoveries, and retailer rumors.
