The Investigation Is Picking Up Speed
CyberLeek has gone quiet since the Extended Look dropped, but that hasn’t slowed Take-Two down. The publisher had already sent subpoenas to Microsoft and Discord, then followed those up with requests targeting YouTube and X.
Discord’s marketing director, Ryan Rigney, had previously said the company hadn’t actually received its subpoena yet, and that it would review the request’s scope before deciding how to respond.
According to TorrentFreak, Take-Two has now gone back to court asking for a second Discord subpoena — and this time, it wants the details kept private. That’s a departure from the first Discord subpoena, which named specific usernames and servers in the open.
Take-Two’s reasoning, laid out in its filing to seal the request, is that going public could tip off whoever’s behind the leak, giving them a chance to wipe evidence or cover their tracks before they’re identified.
Fewer Targets, Sharper Focus
At the same time, Take-Two pulled its subpoena request for YouTube entirely. The company had been chasing three separate individuals tied to the leaked footage, but its lawyers told the court the investigation “has been (and is) evolving rapidly as new information becomes available,” and that Take-Two no longer needs what it originally asked YouTube for.
In plain terms, the publisher appears to have gotten what it needed elsewhere and is now narrowing in rather than casting a wide net.
