Garmin has rolled out a fresh beta update, version 17.27, for its top-tier smartwatches, bringing fixes that users have been waiting for. Announced today, August 15, 2025, this update targets problems with the watch face and other features on models like the Fenix 8, Fenix 8 Solar, Fenix E, Tactix 8, and Enduro 3. Here’s what’s new.

The update tackles a annoying issue where the time on the watch face would freeze until someone touched the watch. That’s now fixed, so the time should stay correct.

It also sorts out a problem with editing the power save timeout setting during multi-sport activities, making those features work better. This comes just days after the last beta update, version 17.25, which fixed crash issues.

The update is already reaching owners of the listed watches, which start at $899.99 on Amazon. It’s rolling out over the air, so it should show up automatically. However, special features like heart readings, diving tools, and flying tools are still turned off in this beta version, suggesting Garmin is testing more changes before a full release.

Some users on forums are happy to see the time fix, while others note it’s a small step toward a bigger update.

If you haven’t gotten it yet, you can check for it manually on your watch under the menu, system, and software update options. Garmin says more beta updates are coming before the final version hits all users.

Fans of these rugged watches are excited for smoother performance, especially for outdoor adventures.
