A recently leaked skin for Battlefield 6 has raised worries among players about the game moving away from its realistic style. The leak, shared by Reddit user SpiritualBacon on the Battlefield subreddit, shows a soldier in a black outfit with neon green accents, which some fans feel doesn’t fit the game’s military theme.
Battlefield 6, set to release on October 10, 2025, has been praised for its grounded look, with developers at DICE promising authentic military designs. However, this leaked skin, while not as wild as some seen in games like Call of Duty, has players concerned it could lead to more unrealistic cosmetics after launch.
The Reddit post, which gained over 3,500 upvotes, urges the community to push back against such designs to prevent Battlefield 6 from following the path of Call of Duty, where colorful skins like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have frustrated fans.

Players like Reddit user Knight_baller pointed to Call of Duty’s shift from realistic to flashy cosmetics, saying, “Look at what’s happened with CoD from MW2019 to BO6, they get worse each year.” Others, like Leon_Musks, suggested not buying these skins to send a message to publisher EA.
The fear is that accepting even slightly bold designs could open the door to more outlandish ones, like the Santa Claus skin seen in Battlefield 2042.
DICE has emphasized keeping Battlefield 6 true to its military roots, with design director Shashank Uchil stating, “I don’t think it needs Nicki Minaj. Let’s keep it real.” Earlier leaks showed realistic skins, like those in the Phantom Edition, which were well-received for their traditional look.
However, this new leak has some fans doubting whether EA will stick to that promise post-launch, especially since cosmetics are a big source of revenue.
The leaked skin hasn’t been officially confirmed by EA or DICE, and it may change before the game’s release. For now, the Battlefield 6 community is vocal about wanting authentic designs, hoping to avoid the colorful, cartoonish cosmetics seen in other shooters. Fans can expect more details as the game nears its October launch.
