A new app called Sudachi has become the first emulator for Nintendo Switch games on Android devices, and it’s now available for download on the Google Play Store. This means Android users can play many Nintendo Switch games on their phones or tablets without needing a physical console.
The Sudachi emulator was developed by a team that previously worked on a similar app called Yuzu, which was discontinued earlier this year due to legal issues with Nintendo.
Sudachi supports a wide range of Nintendo Switch games, including popular titles like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Super Mario Odyssey, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It requires users to provide their own game files, which they can obtain from legitimate sources like physical cartridges or digital purchases.
To use Sudachi, Android users need a device with at least 6GB of memory and Android 9.0 or higher. The app is free to download, but it includes optional in-app purchases for extra features like better graphics settings or faster loading times. It works best on high-end devices like the Samsung Galaxy S24 or Google Pixel 9, where games run smoothly at full speed.
The arrival of Sudachi on the Google Play Store is a big deal because Google has strict rules about emulators, and this is the first one for Nintendo Switch to pass their review process.
Previously, such apps were only available through side-loading from websites, which could be risky for users. Now, with official store approval, it’s easier and safer to install.
However, Nintendo has been active in protecting its games, and there might be future challenges. For now, fans are excited to have a portable way to play Switch games on Android. The app has already received over 100,000 downloads in its first day and positive reviews for its performance.
Developers of Sudachi said in a blog post, “We’re happy to bring this emulator to more users through the Play Store. It allows people to enjoy their Nintendo Switch library on the go.” Users can search for “Sudachi” in the Google Play Store to get started.
