Microsoft has rolled out a major update for its Xbox app on Windows PCs, making it easier for gamers to access and play games from different stores like Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store all in one place. This change aims to create a single hub for PC gaming, reducing the need to switch between multiple apps.

The update, announced during a Microsoft event, adds support for launching and managing games from these popular platforms directly through the Xbox app. Users can now see their Steam library, GOG titles, and Epic Games alongside Xbox Game Pass games in a unified friends list and achievement system.

This means you can chat with friends across platforms, track progress in one spot, and even get notifications for updates from any of these services.

Before this, PC gamers had to use separate launchers for each store, which could be confusing and time-consuming. Now, with the Xbox app acting as a central control center, it’s simpler to jump into games no matter where you bought them.

The update also improves cloud saving, so your progress carries over seamlessly between devices.

Sarah Bond, head of Xbox gaming at Microsoft, said, “We’re building a more connected gaming experience for everyone. This update unites your libraries from different stores, making it effortless to play what you love, how you want.”

The feature is rolling out first to Xbox Insiders, with full availability expected by late October 2025 for all Windows 11 users.

Gamers on social media are excited, calling it a “game-changer” for PC setups. However, some stores like Steam have not yet commented on the integration.

This move shows Microsoft’s push to make Xbox the go-to app for PC gaming, competing with dedicated launchers while keeping things user-friendly.

The Xbox app is free to download from the Microsoft Store, and this update is part of broader efforts to enhance PC gaming features.
