Bokeh Game Studio, the development team led by Silent Hill and Siren creator Keiichiro Toyama, has revealed that it is working on a new large-scale game project. The announcement came through a recruitment message written by Toyama, where he confirmed that the studio is actively hiring across multiple roles.

The upcoming title will be Bokeh Game Studio’s second major project, following the release of Slitterhead in 2024.

Studio Expanding After Slitterhead

In his message, Toyama explained that Slitterhead helped the studio establish itself and served as an important starting point for the team.

He described the game as a project that allowed Bokeh Game Studio to “finally reach a starting line,” suggesting that the studio intentionally began with a smaller AA-scale title before moving on to something more ambitious.

Slitterhead received moderately positive reception when it launched, and the studio now appears ready to take on a bigger production.

Hiring for Multiple Development Roles

Bokeh Game Studio currently has around 35 staff members, all of whom are already working on the new project. To expand the team, the studio is now looking to recruit at least sixteen additional employees.

Open positions include roles for:

  • Programmers
  • Artists
  • Game designers
  • Marketing staff

According to the recruitment listings, many of these positions are marked as urgent, indicating that the studio wants to scale up quickly as development progresses.

Development Still in Early Stages

Toyama acknowledged that game development is rarely straightforward and described the process as a cycle of trial and error.

However, he encouraged experienced developers to join the team while the project is still in its early stages. Doing so would allow new hires to help shape the game’s direction as it evolves.

Focus on Original Game Ideas

Toyama also emphasized the studio’s creative philosophy. According to him, Bokeh Game Studio aims to create games that feel original and distinctive, rather than simply following trends.

He explained that the team constantly asks fundamental questions about their work, such as why a game should exist and why they are the ones who should create it.

The goal, he said, is not novelty for its own sake, but to build ideas that lead to creative expression unique to the studio.

What We Know About the New Game

Details about the upcoming project are still very limited. However, the game may be the same title Toyama briefly mentioned in July last year, suggesting that development has already been underway for some time.

One thing that has been clarified is that the new project will not be a sequel to Slitterhead.

With the studio now expanding its team and moving toward a larger production, more information about the game could emerge in the coming years.
