Retro gaming fans now have a new way to revisit their physical collections on modern hardware. Polymega Remix is designed to let players digitize and play their original CD- and cartridge-based games on devices like PCs and handhelds such as the Steam Deck—without relying on downloaded ROMs.

A hybrid system for preserving classic games

The system works through two main components:

  • A base unit that resembles a compact game console
  • A Windows app that handles digitization and playback

Once connected via USB, the base unit reads your original discs and converts them into playable digital versions. Its built-in optical drive supports a wide range of classic CD-based systems, including:

  • PlayStation 1
  • Sega Saturn
  • Sega CD / Mega CD / 32XCD
  • Neo Geo CD
  • TurboGrafx CD / PC-Engine CD

Cartridge support with expansion modules

For cartridge-based games, Polymega Remix offers optional expansion modules (sold separately). These adapters allow digitization for classic systems like:

  • NES / Famicom (EM01)
  • SNES / Super Famicom (EM02)
  • Sega Genesis / Mega Drive / 32X (EM03)
  • TurboGrafx-16 / PC-Engine (EM04)
  • Nintendo 64 (EM05)
  • Atari 2600 / 7800 (EM06)

Once digitized, your games are stored and playable across supported platforms.

Play anywhere with modern enhancements

The Polymega app enables playback on multiple devices, including:

  • Windows PCs
  • PC gaming handhelds (like Steam Deck)
  • Intel-based Macs

Support for iPhone, iPad, Android, and Apple Silicon Macs is planned in the coming months.

Beyond simple emulation, the app includes features like:

  • Virtual display filters to recreate CRT-style visuals
  • ROM patch support for mods and fan-made enhancements

Pricing and availability

Polymega Remix is now available through the manufacturer’s online store.

  • Price: $200 (excluding VAT and shipping)
  • Availability: Shipping expected to begin in May 2026
  • Note: Cartridge adapters are sold separately

With its focus on preserving original media while adding modern convenience, Polymega Remix offers a compelling bridge between retro collections and today’s gaming hardware—without the legal gray areas of downloading ROMs.
