Warhorse Studios, the developer behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance, has responded to growing criticism over its alleged use of AI in translation workflows during a recent Reddit AMA, firmly stating that AI will not replace human contributors.
The controversy began after a former Czech-to-English translator for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II claimed his role was being phased out in favor of AI tools. The revelation sparked backlash across the gaming community, especially among players concerned about AI replacing creative roles in game development.
Addressing the issue directly on Reddit, Warhorse clarified its stance:
“We do not see AI as a substitute for human work, and we are currently looking to expand the company, including our translation team. Some team members find AI useful during the early stages of production. However, we do not use AI-generated content in the final game and have no plans to change this in the future.”
Creative director Prokop Jirsa reinforced this message, confirming that the studio is actively hiring human English translators. He also noted that future projects will maintain a similar number of translators as previous titles.
Despite these assurances, skepticism remains. During the AMA, one user asked which roles could be replaced by AI. Warhorse responded bluntly: “Hopefully none of us, and never.”
Beyond the AI debate, the studio also teased its next project, described only as a “huge immersive RPG.” However, it stopped short of confirming whether this refers to a potential Kingdom Come sequel or a rumored The Lord of the Rings adaptation.
For now, Warhorse’s message is clear: AI may assist early development, but human creativity remains at the core of its games.
