The rumored May 18 pre-order date for Grand Theft Auto VI has officially arrived, and while Rockstar Games still hasn’t made any public announcement, new evidence continues piling up behind the scenes.
This time, fans discovered what appears to be an actual GTA 6 category entry hidden inside Walmart’s backend database.
Users on Reddit communities r/GTA6 and r/GamingLeaksAndRumours spotted a structured Walmart database listing tied to Grand Theft Auto VI, complete with an internal category ID and a fully generated browse URL. Although the page currently leads to a 404 error, the discovery is significant because it appears to be a genuine backend database record rather than a simple search index or placeholder.
According to the community, retailers typically create these backend category pages as part of their internal pre-order infrastructure weeks before products officially go live.
Another Piece in the Growing GTA 6 Pre-Order Puzzle
This isn’t the first sign pointing toward incoming GTA 6 pre-orders.
Back in March, title IDs connected to Grand Theft Auto VI quietly appeared inside the PlayStation Store database. Earlier this month, an affiliate email tied to Best Buy reportedly referenced May 18 as the beginning of a physical pre-order campaign.

That affiliate information was later independently verified by Insider Gaming and traced back to the Impact affiliate marketplace. Interestingly, the campaign window reportedly runs until May 21, the same day Take-Two Interactive is scheduled to hold its next earnings call.
Now, the Walmart backend entry adds yet another layer to the growing pattern.
One Retailer Already Jumped the Gun
While major platforms still remain silent, at least one retailer has already gone live with pre-orders.
Italian retailer Showgame recently launched GTA 6 pre-orders for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S versions of the game at a surprisingly low price of €69.90.
The listings quickly spread across social media because many fans expected Rockstar to price the game significantly higher, with rumors previously suggesting a possible €90–€100 launch price.
At the moment, however, official storefronts like the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store still haven’t opened pre-orders globally. That has led some fans to believe Showgame may have activated listings ahead of Rockstar’s intended schedule.
Insider Gaming Says Fans Should Stay Cautious
Not everyone is convinced the big reveal is happening immediately.
Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming recently suggested that Trailer 3 for GTA 6 may not even arrive until July, pushing back against expectations of a massive announcement this week.
Still, the Walmart discovery stands out because it’s more than a rumor or social media speculation. It’s actual backend infrastructure appearing alongside multiple other retailer and storefront clues over the past several weeks.
As of now, neither Rockstar Games nor Take-Two Interactive has officially commented on the situation.
