Xiaomi Mi 8 SE, the device which came running on the Android Oreo 8.1 can now be upgraded to the latest Android 9 Pie Closed Beta. However, this is not an official update for the device but thanks to the XDA and well Recognized Developer yshalsager who provided the download link and the screenshot of the downloaded version.
The shared screenshot shows the device running MIUI 8.11.1 China Developer ROM based on Android Pie. Since its a closed beta you can’t actually use the updater app to get the update. However, you can still download and install it by using a TWRP recovery software and then downloading and flashing the ROM zip file on your Xiaomi Mi 8 SE manually.

You can use the below source link to download the ROM zip file and then you will need to unlock the bootloader to use the TWRP recovery and flashing the downloaded ROM ZIP file.
Please do take the back up of your phones data in case of any issue while installing the update.
However, if you are on MIUI China Stable ROM then updating the ROM by flashing it on your device won’t break your device.
