CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has assured fans that The Witcher IV is in the capable hands of a team deeply rooted in the franchise’s legacy. Following the debut trailer for the game, the studio confirmed the involvement of key developers from the series’ previous installments, including the original writer from The Witcher (2007).
Veterans at the Helm
CDPR Director Michał Nowakowski has revealed that over 100 developers from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are currently working on The Witcher IV. Many of these individuals are actually veterans from The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 1.
“The Witcher 3 turns 10 this May. Around 100 of its developers are working with us to this day on our new projects, including The Witcher IV,” Nowakowski shared on Twitter. “Some are actually veterans from The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 1, including my esteemed co-CEO, Adam Badowski, who has been with the series since its inception back in 2002.”
Notably, the script for the upcoming game is being crafted by the original writer of the first Witcher title, a move that has excited fans eager for a return to the series’ storytelling roots.
Addressing Fan Concerns
CDPR also addressed rumors regarding its affiliation with Sweet Baby Inc., an external agency criticized by some gamers for its role in character diversity in video games.
Nowakowski dismissed these claims, clarifying that the studio had not collaborated with or even heard of the agency prior to recent discussions.
A Deliberate Approach
CD Projekt Red has yet to announce a release date or platforms for The Witcher IV. The studio emphasized a cautious approach to development, reflecting on lessons learned from the Cyberpunk 2077 launch.
While the entire company is contributing to the game’s creation, CDPR has prioritized quality over speed, with no rush to announce a timeline.
As excitement builds for the next chapter in The Witcher saga, fans can rest assured that the game is being developed with the expertise and care it deserves.
